Born and raised in North Queensland, I attended Clare State School, BCH in Ayr and then St Pat’s The Strand Townsville. Having an excellent accounting teacher at St Pat’s, I excelled in the subject and decided then to make that my career. I completed my Bachelor of Commerce at James Cook University, Townsville in 1983.
After spending one year working in Mackay with S.H Tait & Co Chartered Accountants, I moved to Brisbane to take up employment with Hall Chadwick & Co Chartered Accountants, where I stayed until 1987. During that time I also completed the Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, Professional Year Program.
In order to gain some business experience on the ‘commercial side’, in 1987 I joined Comalco Aluminium Limited at the company’s bauxite mining operations in Weipa, Far North Queensland. During my 5 years with Comalco I started as a Senior Production Accountant before moving into Human Resources in the role of Staff Officer.
By 1993, my husband and I were ready to move back to Brisbane to raise a family. After 2 years in Indonesia we moved to Adelaide in 1997, where we have remained since. After a number of years away from my career raising three children, I returned to the accounting profession in 1999.
Over the following 10 years, I worked for several small-medium sized Adelaide accounting practices – yet always yearned to start my own practice. In May 2009, this dream was realised – initially through a partnership and then as the principal of “Lidia Minns Chartered Accountant”.
My passion is providing tax and business advice to small-medium sized business clients as well as tax services to clients with investments, rental properties and self-managed superannuation funds. I strive to deliver excellent service at a value for money price.
